Little Bee's Pediatric Dentistry - Lebanon, PA
Maintaining Your Child’s Oral Health
Trusted, Quality Care
We specialize in dentistry for children of all ages, infants through adolescents. You can rest assured that your child is in the very best hands and will be treated as our own.
Communication with our families is our priority. We work with you in making the right decisions for your child’s unique dental needs.
Giving back is an important part of who we are. We can’t wait to get to know your family, grow together, and become engaged members of your local Lebanon community.
Oral Hygiene Habits
When children first begin growing their baby teeth, they will need help from their parents to ensure the teeth are being cleaned and cared for properly. We encourage parents to assist with brushing their child’s teeth until they are old enough to tie their own shoes. Their teeth should be routinely brushed, twice each day for at least two minutes. For children under the age of three, they will need a tiny smear of toothpaste on their toothbrush. For children over three years old, they will need a pea-size amount of toothpaste.
When it comes to your child’s diet, it’s important to remember that what’s healthy for their body is healthy for their teeth! Our team is passionate about helping families do everything they can to build a healthy foundation for their smiles. By providing a healthy diet, you can help your child’s smile stay strong. At Little Bee’s Pediatric Dentistry, we enjoy educating children and parents about proper nutrition. Sugary drinks, such as fruit juice and sodas, wear down the enamel on your child’s teeth over time, destroying its natural protective layer. Chips, candy, and fruit snack gummies attach to a child’s teeth, causing the same kind of damage, eventually leading to cavities. By understanding the right foods to eat, you can do your part to help your child avoid dental decay and cavities. At regular dental visits, we can answer any questions you may have and give our best recommendations for proper nutrition for your child.
Emergency dental situations can happen anywhere and at any time. That’s why it’s so important to be prepared and know how to care for your little bee when they experience a dental emergency. If your child is experiencing a dental emergency in or around Lebanon, PA, our team is ready to help!
Instruct your child to clean the area surrounding the affected tooth carefully. Provide them with warm, salted water to swish in their mouth to remove any stuck food particles from between their teeth. If the pain persists through the next 24 hours, bring your child to our office.
Your child will need to swish their mouth with warm salt water and apply an ice pack to their cheek to relieve swelling. Try to locate the broken piece of the tooth if possible. Bring your child to the office as soon as possible, along with the tooth fragments.
Attempt to locate the tooth and pick it up by the crown (top) only. Do not touch the root of the tooth. Rinse the tooth but do not attempt to use any other products to clean it. Try and place the tooth back into the jaw and instruct your child to bite down on gauze to hold it in place. If this is not possible, transport the tooth in a cup of milk. Get your child to a dentist as soon as possible!
